The current trend is towards a healthier lifestyle and a greener environment. That is why people are increasingly moving towards non-Teflon pans. The general belief is that Teflon cookware is harmful to the environment and potentially causes long-term effects on our health. This has given rise to all sorts of nonstick cookware brands that are marketed as PFOA-free and can be used to cook without any oil or butter. We will take a look at one of these brands below with the Granite Rock pan review.
Granite Rock Pan Review – Features
The Granite Rock frying pan comes in different sizes including the 10-inch one shown above. There is also a square pan available if you prefer that rather than round.

Its inner layer is high-grade pressed aluminum. This is nothing new as many cookware relies on an aluminum core for heat conductivity. The cooking surface uses triple food-grade granite layers with a natural mineral coating for its nonstick performance.
The Granite Rock is marketed as highly durable and doesn’t warp. You can use it to fry, bake, saute and sear. You can put it in the oven with an oven-safe threshold of 500°F. it is also dishwasher-safe and PFOA-free.
Pros And Cons Of Granite Rock Pans
Pros
- Affordable – The Granite Rock pans are reasonably priced and it can compete with cookware from Copper Chef or Startfrit The Rock. If you are not thinking of spending too much money on nonstick pans, this one would fit the bill.
- Nonstick – The cooking surface is nonstick but as many users have tried, it works better with the use of oil or butter.
- Lightweight – Some people will like it while others might not. But lightweight pans are easier to handle when cooking and washing and are easier on the arm compared to a cast iron Lodge skillet.
Cons
- Not as advertised – Many complaints from buyers can be seen because they can’t get their eggs to slide out of the pan as shown in the advertisement. The eggs stick to the cooking surface and the use of oil or butter is needed to make it slicker. So, if you intend to cook without any lubricant, this may not be the pan to get.
- Food gets stuck – There is also a segment of buyers that found the pans to be sticky, no matter what they did. Generally, nonstick pans will pass the egg test when they are brand new. But for the Granite Rock pans, some buyers found that their eggs stuck even during the first few uses.
Is The Granite Rock Pan Safe?
If the concern is about the harmful PFOA in its nonstick coating, then you can be assured that it is free of this particular chemical. The packaging has explicitly said so. In that sense, it is safe.
However, what its coating actually contains is not mentioned either. Bear in mind that many nonstick cookware have PTFE in their coating. They will be advertised as PFOA-free which is not surprising because PFOA has been phased out in the manufacturing process of nonstick coatings in the USA due to its harmful effects. But PTFE is not the same as PFOA and that can remain in a cookware.
Thus, if you are looking for PFOA and PTFE-free pans, it would be safer to go for ceramic cookware which tend to have none of these 2 ingredients such as the WearEver Pure Living and T Fal Initiatives Ceramic cookware. Manufacturers too will highlight this in their marketing and promotions.
Should You Buy The Granite Rock Pans
The online Granite Rock reviews from buyers aren’t very reassuring. The complain rate is quite high and the reviews too reveal 2 extremes. On one hand, some are adamant that their pan is sticky while on the other, others are quite happy with what they have got. Admittedly, there are also those who find it a little sticky without the use of some form of lubricant. But with oil or butter added, the cooking surface is much better and food don’t get stuck.
Why people might have 2 totally different experiences with the same pan could also be related to the way it is used. If the heat is too high, food may stick. Putting in food when the pan is not sufficiently heated up may also contribute to the stickiness of some nonstick cookware.

But with the high complaint rate, it is indeed risky to assume that all the negative Granite Rock pan reviews are due to user error. Since there are plenty of other choices out there on the market for nonstick cookware, we would suggest that you look elsewhere to be on the safe side.
I have used my Granite Rock non stick pan twice and both times my eggs stuck to the pan. I preheated the pan on the #2 setting on my Electric stove. This pan in my opinion is not worth the $.95.95 I paid for it and I will never bye another Granite Rock product again
Where did you order it from? This pan is for sale on multiple sites for $19.95. I have the pan and successfully fried an egg with no oil or butter with a little coaxing with a plastic spatula.
The granite fry pan is a joke. It sticks very bad
Do not purchased this fry pan. You also have to pay shipping to return.
Bought my pan and the first thing I did was try to fry an egg. Well, the commercial is wrong. It stuck and didn’t “float” around in the pan; far from it. Later, I cooked a steak and it wasn’t too bad and the pan was easy to wipe out and clean.
I use my pan everyday and love it. I’ve never had anything stick and it cleans up so easy. You over paid for your pan. I pay around $20 at Wal-Mart. I want a larger size.
I have my pan used it to make pancakes with a metal spatula and this is the results scratches on the bottom of the pan but it didn’t stick
If y’all paid $96 for that fry pan ya must have been smoking something ….. when I can buy it for $20
What I want to know is if the pans don’t perform as advertised, then how is it possible that the pans work so well on the commercial. It’s very deceiving, and should not be advertised as such
I purchased the 9″ square pan, from bb and beyond, just perfect right size and shape I needed just for the two hamburgers.
My only complaint is your handles, too thin, skinny…. I can’t grasp it. or pick up and hold easily. Most handles are thicker, may be because i’m old and can’t close my hand tightly. Most pans have a thicker bigger around handle to grasp… Anyway sorry but won’t be able to purchase anymore.
I ordered this product back in December of 2018 and still have not received did yet there is no contact information on how to contact the company that I ordered it from to get a refund or find out what the status is please don’t let this be a scam
Where did you order it from? It is strange for a retailer not to have any contact information. In any case, it is always prudent to check the background of the company that you are buying things from, especially if you are buying them online.
I too ordered in early December 2018 and have not received my order. There is a customer service website http://www.customerstatus.com and phone number 844-771-2644 (available Mon-Fri 8:00 am-8:00 pm EST). My status states “temporarily out of stock” but then comes up with the ad to order more. I haven’t been able to talk to anyone direct about when they will ship my order or let me cancel.
Same thing for me, I ordered mine on December 22nd and just now received an email from their website telling me they shipped it, on February 9th! I had forgotten about it but then checked my bank account and they debited the money too. I tried contacting them in the middle of January and all they have is a phone number that keeps you on hold. This pan better be worth it if I ever do receive it.
Same here except I have not yet been charged for it. Found out it was on back order. Went back the the site I had ordered it from and have copied this from the customer service: For customer service, please call 844-771-2644 between the hours of 8:00AM – 8:00PM EST. We are committed to providing the best products and friendliest customer service. If you should have any questions about ordering or a question about any of our great products, please feel free to contact us with the information provided.
I ordered 2 of these crappy pans it took 3 months to get here and every thing sticks to them even water screw granite rock useless junk
I love my pan haven’t had a problem maybe you don’t know how to use pans properly. If you unhappy with them you can throw them my way. I’d be happy to take them. You can’t use a high flame the first time you use a pan on the stove, just to break it in. That’s probably why you had a problem. And you need to let the egg cook because when an egg is cooked on the bottom it will release itself. You need to adjust your heat. I’ ve had experience with different pans so I know what I’m talking about.
I ordered my set from walmart.com and got them in less than a week. I will not order from a site I don’t know, even if they say they are the direct company. Good luck and I hope you figure something out.
I had the same problem. I think it took 4-5 months but I love my pan! I have been using it 6 months now. I’m actually ordering more.
My skillets came in two months after my order. The first few times of use everything was fine. From then on, food started sticking. I threw the skillet out in the yard this morning after ruining 2 eggs.
I love my Granite Rock pans had never had any problems cookin with it my over medium eggs came out perfect did not stick, when I can I want to get the pots.
You can order the entire set from walmart.com for $95.00.
I recently bought granit rock pots and pans. It works like in the add and they are the best thing I have ever bought. Eggs in the pans (small egg pan and the others) fall off to the plate with not fat wha so ever.
I ordered this pan before christmas and still haven’t gotten it yet I am thinking it is a rip off.
What I have found is using any type of washing material that contains the product Finish is used in washing dishes puts a coat on the nonstick pan causing food to stick to the pans. Try removing and see if this helps your results
First of all, I never believe any add that says you don’t need anything to coat the pan when cooking eggs or anything else for that matter. That being said, I have two Granite Rock frying pans and I love them. I have never tried using them without spraying something in them first. When compared to the ceramic pans and the copper pans (both of which I also have) the Granite Rock outshines them both. When you put a little butter or oil in the pan nothing sticks to it and cleanup is a breeze. Just rinse with hot water and wipe with a paper towel. I never read the instructions so I didn’t know you’re not supposed to use cooking spray, which I do all the time (I use Emeril not Pam) and it works great. Next payday I plan on buying the pots and pans as well.
I saw the commercial on tv and had to have one. On tv nothing sticks. Bought mine at rural king. I have used it numerous times for eggs and the eggs have stuck to the pan every single time. I use medium to low heat with the same results. Was going to return it but I accidentally threw away my receipt. Not as advertised by a long shot or I got a dud. From reading other reviews sounds like they are junk. Glad they were cheap or I would really be mad.
ordered in December received no verification of any kind, I assumed order didn’t go through, so I just let it go. I received an e-mail (2-9) saying order has been shipped. Tracking says label printed but NOT shipped. Also money taken out of account. Tried to call customer service, rang once and then disconnected. This was suppose to be a gift in Jan. I will be going to bank on Monday and also issuing a complaint with BBB.
Did GraniteRock pans change their name to Granite Stone?
Just received and tried out. It’s a scam, both pans (including the egg pan) stuck badly. Never buy again
First use as directed, med low heat, both eggs stuck to pan! Called customer service and the only thing she said was it was because my eggs were cold, haha! Really? Don’t waste your time or money on this! You are also responsible for return shipping. I am sure that deters people as the pan is only 19.99. 👎
False Advertising, GRANITE ROCK sticks to the eggs and you end up with dirty stuck on food pan
Bought the pans with hopes of a non-stick pan. WRONG!!! I am an experienced cook and know my way around a stove. The egg I tried to cook immediately stuck to the sides and bottom my sunny side up egg became scrambled. Got stuck again. Not a happy camper, and to top it, they don’t care!!!!
I bought these pans and am sorry I did. I tried the egg pan and the egg stuck really bad. I see that some people are getting good ones. Mine definitely wasn’t one of those. I also see where some are using a spray. What’s the point of these pans if you have to use a spray. I have several of pans that work great with a spray. The point was not having to use any kind of spray or oil. Sounds like they send some good ones out and some duds.
The product is a piece of garbage.
Can it be used on glass top stove?
Don’t like the pan. It stained the first time used it. It always looks dirty. Food sticks to it. The lifetime warrenty states the company will repair or replace the pan, but you have to send it to them and pay $10 for shipping and handling. What a rip off!
I tried cooking Eggs over easy and found that they stuck badly to the skillet.
My husband ordered a set or 10 Granite Rock pots and pans plus lids and I love cooking in them,,nothing has stuck,,I make omelets, grilled cheese, cornbread, pan cakes, sausage gravy,, everything slides right out…I have thrown away my Copper chef pans cause 2 weeks after using them everything stuck to the bottom… Love my hubby and love my Granite Rock…
I Ordered MY Granite Rock Pan 8n December..
Never Received It. I Called & Wrote Thm. Thy Telling ME I Called 2 Cancel My Order By Don’t Want My Money Back….
Nobody In Right Mind Wouldn’t Want Their Money Back.
If You Ever Want To Be Ripped Off This Is The Perfect Thing….
I ordered this pan twice. when finally contacted,, apparently someone wrote the wrong expiration of my MasterCard. Ordered again by telephone. This was over a month ago. Never heard anything. Bad business. I’m disappointed, and through.
I just bought a pan also. It sucks don’t waste your money. Have only used it for eggs which is why I bought it and they stick every time. Very had to flip eggs also with a rubber spatula. Going back to good old Teflon . Very dissatisfied.
I purchased the 10 inch Granite Rock from our local Wal-Mart about three months ago. We like this pan much better than the Gotham pans we previously had. I normally use a few drops of olive oil or canola oil in my normal cooking so “food sticking” to this pan has not been a problem. My chief complaint would have to be the design on the bottom of the pan. The circular ridges or rings have already started to scratch and discolor the glass top on my stove. If the manufacturer can design a smooth finish on the bottom of this pan I would buy another, until then this Granite Rock pan is no longer being used.
First time I used my pan, eggs stuck. And yes I followed the instructions. Just got ripped off…
I ordered from the website. The pans came yesterday. The instructions say it is better not to use oil or butter, so I didn’t. Today for the first time I used it to cook eggs. I preheated the pan at #2 setting on electric stove and put the eggs in the pan. They STUCK big time. After I got the eggs out, mangled, I put some water in the pan to soak. It was nearly impossible to get the stuck portion off, I used a plastic scraper and it took a while. I’m sending them back.
Any item I like “as seen on tv” I go to Rite-Aid or CVS pharmacy to their “as seen on tv” aisle and purchase item. If I find something I do not like about it I take it back. All kinds of stores have “as seen on tv” aisles. Recently I bought reading glasses that said adjust to any power, I purchased them and while reading instructions to see if I was doing something wrong because I had to be 2 inches from my computer to see, I saw in bold letters warning: California Residents( which I am) this product contains nickel’ which California recognizes as cancer-causing agent. Returned the next day. No problem! I love that Aisle!!
I bought my pan yesterday and fried some bacon in it this morning. Thr pan is warped in the middle and all of the greece went to the outer sides. I took pictures of it but I don’t know if the site will accept them. I will never buy another again.
Piece of garbage. Eggs stick. Just another rip off.
Like many of the other reviews, we ordered our pan in December 2018.
First we got a postcard in January saying the pan was backordered. Then we got another in early March saying the pan would ship in a few weeks.
It finally arrived near the end of March.
I guess all this means, if you want the pan, be patient; our order took 4 months start to finish.
I just bought the Rock Pan from BJ’s
The issue I have is the lid does not properly fit on the pan. Has anyone else had this issue ?
After waiting 3 weeks to receive my order, the shipment arrived and the frying pan was dented on the side. I thought this was coated with a durable surface? I am afraid to send it back and request a refund given the negative responses :(.
Very disappointing eggs stick even with butter
I have to take back what I said previously! It took Quite awhile. Take back scam. Its not I finally received them. Thank you!
The commercial is completely deceiving. What a big mess when you cook eggs in it. Don’t buy it. I have already thrown mine in the garbage!
Bought 10” pan. Needs just a touch of butter….I don’t believe anything is non-stick. Don’t care what ad says. I have no complaints.
I’ve made home fries, veggie sausage/bacon (so do need a fat in there). No issues at all. Just a touch of butter/oil.
Have done eggs by themselves with no issues, just need to have a low temp.
I purchased the granite rock pan about two weeks ago and it is great. I do use spray in my pans to cook any food. I did cook scrambled eggs with no oil or spray and they didn’t stick to the pan.The food seems to cook more evenly in the granite rock pan. I was skeptical about the granite rock pan, since other pans (copper pan) said its non stick but isn’t. I am very happy with my granite rock pan, I’m going to buy a bigger granite rock pan.
My name is Gwendolyn Cole. Granite rock pans has repeatedly charged my credit card for items I did not order and did not receive. Return my money immediately. I will take legal action posthumously. Return every penny you have charged my card, in hurry.
This website is NOT a retailer for any cookware brands. It is just an info-based website with articles about the different pots and pans available on the market. All we have are just affiliate links in the posts which you can click to bring you to the actual retailer to check on the current price and other details. We also strongly recommend that readers do their research thoroughly before buying.
I have a heart problem are to stay away from any kind of grease. this product was suppose to be able to use without but is wrong. was a waste of money the cheap one from local store work better. just another scam for a company to make money
Don’t waste your money !!!!! Almost everything sticks. I have tried making omelettes with no oil, veg. oil, olive oil, bacon grease, butter, margarine, on med. heat and low heat. The omelette is usually destroyed by the time you get it out of the pan. Meat also sticks as does the black crud if you don’t move it around constantly.
Don’t buy this pan !!!!!!!
i have had a problem from the first time i used it ,there seems to be a residue that wont come off. if you want to return it for a new pan they charge you 20.00 shipping charge, just a trick to sell another pan,not fair. DONT GET SUCKED IN>
We purchased the pan and everything sticks to it , not just eggs. I would like to return it if I could but I am not sure that that is possible without my receipt.
i just used my pan for the first time this morning and made french toast and eggs and both of them stuck bad i think they should stop there ad from showing false facts i am putting it in the readers rights in several news papers across my state
Never got my order. They blew it off on fed ex and were totally unconcerned!!
MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN!!
I seriously don’t know what all these complaints are!! I have been using my frying pan (the small one) for about 3 months now and its the best pan I have ever used. I love it so much, I just bought the bigger pan.
As far as waiting on it to come in…why? I bought it at a local grocery store in the mid west (Meijer). I have also seen them at Target. Always in the AS SEEN ON TV section.
Why not just go to the store and have it same day??
This pan is a JOKE , Food sticks to it ! Try to reach someone to complain, Good Lock! I would not recommend this pan, and I am a Great Cook, owning my own Balery and Restaurant
Granite Stone and Granite Rock seem to be sold by the same company. The current TV offer’s web site is not taking orders and the 844 number is not being answered by a human. There is no way to contact the company other than through the 844 number. No “Contact” link on the web page.
august 27,2019 8:50 a.m. CHERYL STEWART SPEAKING OUT FOR HELP!!!! bought my granite stone skillet several months back it was actually doing pretty good but eggs did stick to it but i had to add a little oil r butter to the skillet , but i do have a major complaint !!!!!! we are beginning to taste grit in our food from this skillet and it is beginning to worry me deeply , when we scramble eggs in it is especially noticeable , so i need to know who to contact about this problem and bout how healthy can this be , plz respond ASAP
THANK YOU !!!!
In my over 50 years of cooking using inexpensive and very expensive frying pans I can say with all confidence that The Rock is by far the best cook wear I have ever used!!!!! Also very impressed with the easy clean up.
I LOVE my pan. I cook fried eggs in it all the time and make cheese chips. I’m on the keto diet so I make them quite often as well.
Only thing id change is the size. Could be a little bigger.
I have had my Granite Rock skillets for almost 2 years and I love them. I have a mister and spray mist the skillet with avocado oil, (not much). I do not use high heat. No higher than 5 on my electric cook top range. I have tried many skillets and brands and have to say this is the best for me. I have’t had any trouble with it at all. Great product in my opinion. I would never treat any equipment like they do in the advertisements. I am gentle with it and it is nice to me.
Made a big mistake by purchasing this pan before checking the reviews. How dumb of me. Everything sticks to it whether lubricated or not. Bad buy!
I just received a granitestone pan as a gift. Upon opening the box it was dented on 1 side, I have tried numerous times to contact the company by phone calls, emails and websites the customer service person said to contact. No responses at all, this company is a scam don’t buy from them!!!!! They are quick to take your money but don’t stand behind their product, will be contacting the BBB about them!!!!!
Everything sticks to it way worse than any other pan, from day one.
Total nightmare.
Do dot use even if it is free.
