Eggs is a common breakfast food for many of us. But it is also one that attracts the most complaints for those who are using a stainless steel pan. This is because of its tendency to stick to the cooking surface. So, can you really fry eggs with a stainless steel pan without it sticking and making clean up a headache? The answer is yes. Below are 3 videos to show how this is done. All of them use a similar method and none of the eggs stick to the stainless steel pan at all. It is not hard to get the eggs to slide off the pan and onto the plate. All it takes is a little patience!

So, how do you do it? The trick is to make sure that your pan is adequately heated up (this is where the patience comes in) and your eggs are at room temperature. Pre-heating the pan at medium-low or medium is best. To find out whether your pan is at the right heat level, you can do the water test. Sprinkle a few drops of water onto the pan. If the droplets are dancing around, the pan is ready.

Then, add in some butter, ghee or oil. If it is too hot, the butter may burn. So, that is why you should try to get the temperature just right. Once the butter has melted, add in the eggs. Wait for the eggs to cook a little at the edge. Then, tilt the pan so that the eggs will cook all round. Add in cheese and other ingredients to finish off your omelette.

So, while many people complain that their stainless steel pan is sticky, others are happy using theirs. It has nothing to do with using high end cookware like All Clad and Calphalon. It is all about getting the temperature right. That is the secret to frying eggs without sticking with stainless steel pan. As can be seen from the videos above, it is not hard to do. It might take a little practice but it is better than relying on non stick cookware that often doesn’t last.
