There are a few T Fal nonstick cookware sets on the market and it is easy to get confused over them. Not all of them are ceramic and even among the ceramic cookware, there are slight differences from one set to another. These include the number and type of pieces, color, and handles design. So, you do have to look carefully before you buy. The interior ceramic coating seems to be the same for all sets since there is no indication that it differs in any way in their product descriptions from one model number to the next. But we shall look closer at a few sets with the T Fal ceramic cookware reviews below.

At the time of writing, the T Fal Initiatives are available in 2 colors – black and champagne gold. You can get it as a 14 or 16-piece set:

---|---|

11-inch fry pan with lid | 11-inch fry pan with lid |
1-quart sauce pan with lid | 1-quart sauce pan with lid |

5-quart Dutch oven with lid | 5-quart Dutch oven with lid |
One Egg Wonder | 10-inch square griddle |
4 nylon tools | 6 nylon tools |
There is nothing exceptional about the construction of the T Fal Initiatives. It is similar to many other ceramic cookware sets out there such as the WearEver Pure Living and Cook N Home. Constructed of heavy-gauge aluminum, it claims to deliver even heating for efficient cooking. It has a PTFE-free, PFOA-free and Cadmium-free nonstick interior coating that lessens the need for oils and fats and yet has excellent food release properties for healthier cooking. It is also stain and scratch-resistant.
The ceramic cooking surface can resist heat up to 570°F on the cooktop. This high heat resistance means you can brown and sear meat to get the same crispness and color as a stainless steel fry pan. If you put with to transfer the cookware to the oven, it is oven safe up to 350°F. You can use the T Fal Initiatives on all cooktops, except induction.
The Good And Bad Of The T Fal Initiatives Ceramic Cookware
Let’s start with the good. Firstly, they are affordable. Unlike some fancy sets like the Zwilling Spirit 3-Ply or even the Cuisinart Green Gourmet, the T Fal Initiatives is in a price range that many can afford and are more willing to pay for nonstick cookware. Few would want to pay more than $100 for a nonstick cookware set because we all know that the pieces don’t last long. So, it is better to stick to something more economical and replace it as and when necessary.
Secondly, the nonstick claim is genuine as food doesn’t stick to the pan which also means clean-up is easy to do. Thirdly, these are lightweight cookware. Not everybody will love light and thin pieces but on the flip side, it means the pots and pans can be heated up pretty fast and easier to handle during handwashing. Lastly, people buy T Fal for the brand name. They are well-known for their reasonable pricing in relation to the quality of their cookware.
But it doesn’t mean that the T Fal Initiatives ceramic cookware do not have their fair share of complaints. The major one is, of course, they become sticky and the coating chips over time and hence, the pots and pans don’t last long. There is really nothing you can do about that except try to take good care of it to lengthen its lifespan as long as you can. Using it on low heat with wooden or nylon utensils, handwashing, and avoiding stacking the pieces directly on top of one another are some of the usual steps that you can take to make them last longer.
Another issue with this cookware concerns the handles. In the T Fal ceramic cookware reviews for the Initiatives model from various buyers online, wobbly and loose handles seems to be one of the weaknesses highlighted. On top of that, the interior can discolor over time which is a common complaint with this type of coating. It shouldn’t affect its performance but you might find that frustrating if you like your pots and pans to keep looking like new.
T Fal Initiatives Ceramic Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator Cookware Set – G918SE
==> Check Price
The set shown above is also another T Fal Initiatives cookware set but it has a thermo-spot indicator which is patented on its cooking surface. This spot acts as a warning signal to let you know when the pan has been adequately heated up so that you can begin cooking. The other features are the same although the items in the set, as well as the color, are different. It has 14 pieces with 3 fry pans (8.5-inch, 10.5-inch, and 11-inch with lid), 2 saucepans (1 and 2-quart with lids), 1 Dutch oven (5-quart with lid), and 4 nylon tools.
Naturally, it is more expensive than the standard Initiatives cookware with the addition of the Thermo-spot feature. Whether you really need this is debatable but if you want to be careful and use this on low heat, the indicator takes away the guesswork of when the pan is ready for cooking to begin.
T Fal Celebrate Ceramic Cookware Set – C991SE
==> Check Price
As far as we can tell, the T Fal Celebrate ceramic cookware is not much different than the T Fal Initiatives shown above. The only difference seems to be the handles apart from the individual pieces that make up a set. The design is different as the pan handles are slightly thicker for the Celebrate cookware and thinner for the Dutch oven compared to the Initiatives.
T Fal Precision Stainless Steel Nonstick Ceramic Cookware Set – C718SC

This set allows you to have the best of both worlds. It has a stainless steel construction with riveted stainless steel handles as well. The fry pans have a ceramic coated interior for that nonstick capability. However, do note that the rest of the pieces have the plain old stainless steel interior. The set comprises of the following items:
- 8-inch fry pan (ceramic coating)
- 10.25-inch fry pan (ceramic coating)
- 1-quart covered saucepan
- 2-quart covered saucepan
- 3-quart covered saucepan
- 5-quart covered Dutch oven
- 2 stainless steel tools
Just like all the other ceramic cookware above, the fry pans for the T Fal Precision can withstand heat of up to 570°F on the cooktop and they are stain and scratch-resistant. Because the interior has nonstick properties, care is needed to ensure its coating will last. But their stainless steel construction means they can be used on an induction cooktop.
Generally, people have a more critical need for nonstick fry pans than nonstick saucepans and pots. Frying with a stainless steel interior can result in a nightmare when cleaning up. Therefore, to combine nonstick ceramic fry pans with other stainless steel pieces in a set is a practical solution. Moreover, the stainless steel pieces can last you a long time. So, if you can live with stainless steel saucepans and Dutch ovens, you can save money in the long run as only the fry pans will need to be replaced.
The downside is this set is more expensive than all the other ceramic cookware sets shown above. Not everybody is happy that the ceramic coating doesn’t apply to all the pieces either but only the fry pans. On top of that, the same complaints appear in buyers’ T Fal ceramic cookware reviews for this model number and that is the nonstick coating doesn’t last. It is not a surprise there which is why we feel having the rest of the pieces with stainless steel interior is a better bet for long-term use.
However, if you really have a need for all the pieces to be ceramic coated, you can also consider the T Fal Precision Hard Anodized Ceramic cookware set (E789SC64). Compared to the T Fal Initiatives, the hard anodized pots and pans are much less likely to warp as they are extremely durable and not as lightweight.
I drop my frying pan, and I broke the handle, may I buy a replacement handle?
My set is light blue, and the handles are made to look like they are wood. Please let me know at your earliest convenience if I could replace the handle and what would the cost be.
Thank you
